Formatting Interior Pages

Introduction

In this section, we will explain how you can format your book pages after downloading our template from Writat.com. We will explain how to set the major three sections of the book which are Front Pages, Body and End Pages so that you can Self Publish the book for free.

Front Pages

This page gives details of the books interior design elements. Many of the elements described below are optional. If you're unsure which to include, find books with content similar to yours to get an idea of what readers expect.


The Front pages are the content that comes before the main chapters begin.  Front-matter usually appear in this order :

Mandatory Pages

1. Half-title page


   

This page will only have the Main title of the book only.

Always start this page from the right facing page (odd number page)

This page will not be numbered.













2. Title Page


This page will have the complete book name along with its subtitle if any.



Name of the Author (or even your pseudonym)



Name of our publishing company, as your book will be distributed under our banner globally











Year in which edition is published

Copyright holders name, generally it's the author or editors

ISBN number, you may leave it black as we will assign this for you.

Details of the book publishing company.

Copyright notice. You can add more details if you desire.












4. Table of Contents    


Always falls on a right-facing page

Doesn't contain page numbers or page headers

TOC may spread over more than one page















Optional Pages

  1. Dedication
  2. Preface
  3. Acknowledgements
  4. Prologue
  5. Introduction
  6. Foreword


The above is optional content that may be put only if you wish to.



Body Matters

Body matter generally contains all the chapters of your book. The first chapter should always start from the right side of the book.


Chapter Page

Chapter one starts on a right-facing page

All subsequent chapters start on the next available page

Doesn't contain page headers

Does contain the page number

You may use our template and styles already made in them for more convenience.














Headings

  • Left-page headers always show the author name; right-page headers always show the book title.


Body text

  • Fully justified for a smoother reading experience
  • Spacing between paragraphs/sections should be uniform



Closing Pages

This is the content that appears after the last chapter. This section can contain details like


  • Bibliography
  • References
  • End Notes
  • Index and
  • most important the Authors Bio


There is no specific details or specification required for these contents. At the most, you can include a picture of yours on the author's bio page.
